VOLUNTEER Newsletter 21

It has been  a while since the last Newsletter and a lot has been happening! Most recently, the Cinema has had quite a facelift, with help from professional painters, the staff and volunteers managed to work was carried out over a period of 10 days with events in between!  It involved steam cleaning of the auditoria, painting, installation of a new projector and improvements to the sound quality in Screen 1. Quite a feat of planning, organisation and hard work! Many thanks to the Volunteers who helped with painting, trips to the tip and cleaning jobs! There have been a lot of very positive comments since! We are experiencing the usual seasonal dip in cinema attendance at the moment which was expected, but there are many interesting Films with Q&A’s, NT productions and Non- Cinema activities to look out for. Ie Games evenings. We are not getting the best out of Rota Central at the moment. It is very useful as it can give us quick and easy statistics on volunteer input to the Cinema, for example. We all recognise that Rapid Response is needed to allow last minute communication etc, but if you do come down to help following a message on ‘RR’ could you please make sure that you have put the shift into Rota Central. The staff will try to remind us! Volunteer Meeting –Tuesday  September 24th We are planning to have a Meeting on September 24th at 5-6pm: could you let me, Rota Central, Rapid Response  or FOH  if you can come along and also if you can’t. sue.clements58@virginmedia.com New Volunteers and Social MediaWe are always keen to have new volunteers so please keep a look out! Please get anyone interested  to email Amanda: amanda@actonecinema.co.uk or give them one of the small cards or flyers that we have on our desk.And.. another reminder to encourage people to leave reviews on google if they have enjoyed their Actone cinema experience. https://g.page/r/CRWdQxjLgx8xEB0/reviewHope to see many of you at the Meeting in September if not before,  thank you for your continued support!

Volunteer Newsletter 20

t’s been a busy few weeks at Actone with Events and Special Screenings doing particularly well. There are plans afoot to give the Cinema a bit of a ‘makeover’ starting on Monday June 17th for about a week when the Cinema will (mostly be) closed. It will involve clearing out, tidying and  painting using a mixture of professional help, Cinema staff’s time and some volunteer input. As plans firm up more details will follow.

Please, please remember to check the toilets when you do a shift, especially handtowels, there have been occasions where the dispenser has been found empty.

VOLUNTEER Newsletter 19

Welcome to the New Volunteers who have joined us since the beginning  of the Year it has been a busy time in the run up to the Awards Season and increasing popularity of in-house events, in January and February we contributed 226 hours of volunteering to the Cinema!

Martina is now Manager of FOH and while she encourages us all to sign up for shifts on Rota Central she is happy that there is usually a positive response when a request  for help goes out on Rapid Response. Just a reminder though, please check there are enough handtowels (in toilets) when we are on shift!
