April highlights at ActOne

In addition to our scheduled newly-released films and hosting the annual treat that is the Acton BID Bunny trail – we have a host of other exciting events lined up for April including the special holiday screening of the original Mary Poppins from 29th March to 4th April.

 

Jazz goes to the Cinema on 6th April, when Kelley Suttenfield brings her trio to perform alongside film clips, and the National Theatre Encore sees the return of Sam Mendes, The Motive and the Cue on 7th April – following a sell-out success in March.   Andrew Scott’s remarkable one-man Vanya – another March success - will be repeated on 14th April.  As part of our brand new season from the Royal Opera House we will be screening the Royal Ballet performing Macmillan Celebrated live on 9th April.

 

Our climate emergency series of events continues with a special double bill, UK premiere – Until the End of the World + Poros Stands with Q&A on 20th April and we re-visit Making Shakespeare the First Folio on the 21st. April.  Local film-maker and founding members of the cinema, Director Nicola Stockley and producer Richard Denton will be at the screening to host a Q&A after the film.  We are so excited to present Getting It Back: The Story of Cymande, a tribute to unsung heroes, the band Cymande, on Saturday 13th April at 2.15pm. On 23rd April we will be live-screening NYE  from the National Theatre.  Starring Michael Sheen as Aneurin Bevan.

 

Lounge events in April will include, each Monday, the West London Queer Choir  and the OffBeat Choir on Tuesdays. On Saturday 6th April between noon and 4 pm, Rikky Cox returns to host his Wellbeing Café and come along to restore your clothes with the Ealing Repair Café  Mend and Natter on 17th April from 2.00-4.00 pm.

 

On Wednesday 10th April from 6 pm we welcome back the Short Film Open Mic, Sound & Vision. And our popular Open Mic will be (as usual) on the last Thursday of the month – 25th April - in the lounge.
