Bears Ice Cream Company will operate our cafe bar!

Updated: Sep 12, 2021

The Acton Arts Project is excited and delighted to announce that it has selected the Bears Ice Cream Company to open and operate it’s cafe bar at the new Act One Cinema on Acton High Street.

Bears is a family-owned business based in Acton, famous for their Scoop Club, Icelandic ice cream, Chilli Katz hotdogs and take home tubs across several West London locations.

The 6 year old business founded by husband and wife team Chef Phil Harrison and Creative Director Vera Thordardottir has also been a star attraction at both the Soho House festival and Secret Cinema.

Bears was chosen from a strong field of local businesses that had pitched to run the space and will be a key partner in the success of our cinema venture.

The Bears team will be offering a fantastic range of cinema staples - plus one or two of their signature twists on the classics.

Maire Lowe, our chair says: “We really couldn’t have found a better partner to operate the cafe/bar to complement our cinema. Bears is a fantastic company, based on our doorstep and with great experience in delivering fun food and drinks in unusual locations. We know that Bears will be bringing something new and exciting to Acton High Street - we can’t wait to open the doors”.

Vera Thordardottir also commented: "We are incredibly excited to be invited to bring Bears Ice Cream to the Acton Cinema. We have been following this amazing community project for a while and are looking forward to coming on board, offering drinks, food, coffee, and last, but not least, creative ice cream!"

Our 72-seat cinema, which is due to open late September/early October, has truly scooped up an exciting partner!
