Welcome to the festive season at ActOne

Our suggestion for a brilliant gift! During December, we'll give you one of Daniel Haskett's wonderful, Ealing-inspired greeting cards when you buy a Basic, Standard or Plus membership for yourself or your loved ones. Just come by the Box Office with your confirmation email, choose your favourite design and enjoy your membership's exclusive benefits and discounts. Explore this offer at actonecinema.co.uk/membership We hope to welcome you to our cinema over the holidays as we have some very special events to enhance our regular programme. This coming weekend we have a one-off screening on Saturday 9th of the documentary FANNY: THE OTHER MENDELSSOHN directed by Sheila Hayman. The programme includes a recorded Q&A with the director Sheila Hayman, and the pianist who appears in the film, Isata Kanneh-Mason, hosted by Sandi Toksvig. On Wednesday 13th, ActOne is hosting our first Short Film Open Mic Night - SOUND and VISION. This is a great opportunity for filmmakers to show their work on the big screen and is proving so popular it is nearly sold out already. Our regular Open Mic evening will be on the 21st of December - a week earlier than usual - and we are hoping for an appropriately festive and special night so please do come along. SOUND and VISION are followed by a second round of poetry and film blend, CINEMATIC VERSES on the 14th of December. On Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th, we will be screening the 4K re-release of Powell and Pressburger's THE RED SHOES with an exclusive recorded introduction by Pamela Hutchinson. NAPOLEON and MAESTRO continue to screen this week and we look forward to Wim Wenders’s documentary of the amazing work of Anselm Keifer in ANSELM - opening on Friday 8th December. And it wouldn't be Christmas without a chance to watch Frank Capra's IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE on the big screen - join us on the 20th December! Keep an eye on our website for more special events happening during December! www.actonecinema.co.uk
